This is Not a Regular 9 to 5: My Two Days as a P.A.

by Bianey Neri-Ochoa

Bianey Neri-Ochoa is a junior at the University of Minnesota majoring in business, marketing and education. Her UpTurnship with the Capri began with a 2-day shift as a production assistant on the Capri’s Rich History. Bright Future. video series, a completely new experience for her.

I was placed through the program called Upturnships to be an intern for an amazing production that occurred at the Capri Theater. The production was called, “Rich History. Bright Future.”

I witnessed this two-day production from beginning to end, including almost 40 on-set interviews. Everyone that was interviewed realized the endless opportunities that will be available to the Northside community due to the new renovated space. I was even able to film a few shots from different areas of the theater which gave me a better understanding of production and made me feel like a producer for a few moments, and it was so cool.

I cannot emphasize enough that this is not a regular 9 to 5 job. I was very tired by the end of the two days, but also felt a rush of excitement and satisfaction once it was announced we were wrapping up. The reason I had these emotions was because I saw the hard work everyone poured into this production. I think these videos are really going to be noticed once they’re made public this spring.

I am grateful I was able to be part of this amazing crew and to Janet for being patient with me and helping me along the way. When you have the chance to watch the Capri video series, I hope you will remember the investment of time and creativity that was displayed.
