What’s Up, OST?!

by Catrice O’Neal, Director of Out-of-School-Time Programs

OST staff, scholars and families are looking forward to a summer filled with fun in the sun during Summer Friends, our 7-week summer enrichment program, July 1-August 16.

Each summer we partner with programs to offer new learning experiences to our scholars. This year we’re grateful to continue gardening with the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, wiffle ball with Playworks, bicycling with the Minneapolis Police Department’s Bike Cops for Kids, and financial literacy with Junior Achievement.

We‘re also excited to announce several new partnerships. Inner City Tennis will be leading a week-long tennis camp at North Commons. Minneapolis Parks and Recreation will host us at Theodore Wirth Park for a week-long safety camp that includes water safety, fishing, first aid, and more, and the Science Museum of Minnesota’s Kitty Anderson Youth Science Center (KAYSC) will be leading STEM justice workshops featuring science and social justice learning.

Our OST summer program looks forward to bringing these new and returning partners to enhance summer learning and help us meet our forever goal to eliminate summer slide! We invite you to stop by between 1 and 4pm Monday-Thursday, July 1-August 16, to see our scholars and partners in action. Happy Summer!
