Since the Capri officially went dark on May 13, we’ve been busy! Clearing a building with this much history is quite a task, from removing theatrical lighting and preparing it for reuse, to finding new homes for much-used appliances and a few old upright pianos. We’ve also been busy removing the well-worn auditorium seats in preparation for the comfy new seats picked by you, the Capri’s loyal friends.
Other advance work has been completed on the exterior as well, and within the next few weeks heavy machinery and construction fencing will appear and the construction team will take over. We’re looking forward to providing updates on our website.
Even as we march forward on construction, we’re still taking donations to close the small gap between what we’ve raised and what we need to bring this building to fruition. If you haven’t already donated, please consider making a donation to the Capri capital campaign today, either online at our website, by check mailed to Capri Capital Campaign, 2210 Oliver Ave. N., Minneapolis, MN 55411 or by calling Debra deNoyelles at 612-643- 2042. Every dollar counts as we move forward with this magnificent project that will have such a tremendous impact in North Minneapolis!Share
