A New Name, A Fresh Approach

There are a lot of new and different things happening in the world, including in our corner of the world at PCYC.

In March we launched our new name, Bright Futures: K-5 Enrichment at PCYC (Bright Futures or BF) and significantly upgraded our online presence on the web and our email communications. We’ve quickly and happily adapted to our new name, and our families have told us that it “…feels new, welcoming and gives our K-5 scholars their own little piece of PCYC.”

In response to COVID-19, BF has taken a totally fresh approach to providing scholars with enriching activities. Although we have seen that the world has begun to open up, for the continued safety our scholars, community and staff, we opted for a fresh approach by taking our program online, bringing scholars together for live action activities and increased social interaction between scholars, their peers and trusted adults.

This summer our goal is to decrease social isolation among K-5 scholars, provide some additional learning and create a space for enrichment to happen at home. Each week enrolled scholars receive a supply kit that they use in their online classes as well as independently. This summer scholars will be exploring financial literacy, growing plants and raising butterflies – all while at home.

The Bright Futures summer session is in full swing, while fall plans are still pending. To stay up to date with all news and opportunities, please visit the Bright Futures webpage at pcyc-mpls.org.
